Fire erupts at Chelsea apartment building on Christmas

A blaze broke out at an apartment building in Chelsea Monday afternoon, said officials. The Christmas fire, which burned just steps from a local firehouse, ignited around 3:30 p.m. on the top floor of 144 West 19th Street near 7th Avenue. The conflagration later ate through the building’s roof, and was designated a 3-alarm blaze....
